BIOPSY
PREPARING FOR A BIOPSY
Biopsy is a procedure where a sample of tissue is taken for a microscope study to determine if it is normal. The surgery consists of the suspected tissue being removed. An incision is made over the are of the biopsy.

MEET THE ANESTHESIOLOGIST

Laboratory and Imaging test completed

Preoperative questionnaire
THE DAY BEFORE YOUR PROCEDURE:

Fast 12 hours prior to the procedure
-
Remember to leave all valuables at home (jewelry, money etc.)

Refrain from smoking and use of alcoholic beverages
-
Shower the morning of the procedure

SURGERY TIMELINE:

Patient assessment about 45 minutes after check in
-
Anesthesia takes about 15 minutes.

Surgery is about 30 minutes
-
Recovery requires 45 minutes to 1 hour

Upon clearance by the doctor the patient is released.
